Wee Read Literacy Squad, Inc. began several years ago as a passionate social media group. Our founder, driven by a desire to model effective ways for parents to prepare children for Kindergarten, envisioned a movement to restore the joy and importance of reading within families. We started by hosting intimate in-home reading parties, generously giving away books, and sharing inspiring pictures and tips to enhance family literacy. Our core belief has always been simple yet profound: everyone in the family should be reading to or with each other to cultivate a literacy-rich environment in their homes.
The positive feedback from friends and family was overwhelming, encouraging us to formalize our efforts. In October 2023, Wee Read Literacy Squad, Inc. officially became a non-profit organization, opening up new avenues for sustainability and broader impact.
Our evolution continued when our founder, a staunch advocate for literacy, was invited to host a class during a summer camp. This opportunity sparked the creation of the Kidpreneur Workshop. Recognizing the power of motivation in reading, the workshop was built around the book "Kidpreneurs with Big Ideas" by Matt and Adam Toren. Comprehensive lesson plans were developed, culminating in students launching mock businesses and earning money – a tangible demonstration of their learning and newfound skills.
From this innovative workshop, WeeBizKid$ Global was born as a vital program of Wee Read Literacy Squad, Inc. It was a direct effort to increase awareness of the crucial correlation between readers and leaders. In an effort to increase awareness of the correlation between readers and leaders Wee Biz Kids Global, which is a program of Wee Read Literacy Squad, Inc was born. It seemed only natural to move in the direction of encouraging young people to find their purpose through the pages of books and entrepreneurship.
Our dual focus on literacy and entrepreneurship builds a generation of more self-sufficient, educated, and engaged young people who can contribute meaningfully to their communities.
